I am trying to find out more about a man called Jumbo Barker. I have been told he could jump the Stockport Branch Canal running through Gorton & Openshaw at the widest point from a standing jump. Apparently he would jump half way, touch the water with his feet and leap again to reach the other side. I have also been told that this man could also jump in a barrel of eggs and jump out again without breaking a single egg.

More information would be welcome.
